At Caramma, we believe feeding is about more than nutrition. It’s about connection, confidence, and creating space for families to find their own way. That's why we're proud to collaborate with healthcare professionals who share that philosophy.
Meet Josephine, midwife and sonographer at the private midwifery clinic Moderliv in Copenhagen. Every day, she supports families through pregnancy, birth, and the often-overlooked postpartum period.
"Every family is different, and every baby is different."
Josephine became a midwife because she wanted to work closely with people during one of the biggest transitions of their lives. After several years working in a larger Danish hospital, she found herself drawn toward a more personal and holistic approach to care.
"I love meeting people where they are, rather than where we think they should be. Having the time to care for families one-on-one is incredibly important to me."
At Moderliv, she has found exactly that. The clinic offers everything from pregnancy scans and birth preparation to breastfeeding support, postpartum consultations, physiotherapy and family-focused care.
For Josephine, the common thread is simple: seeing the whole family.
"Parenthood changes everything. Not just for the mother and baby, but for partners, grandparents, the home, and everyday life. Every family deserves support through that transition."
The Missing Piece: Postpartum Care
While pregnancy and birth receive much attention, Josephine believes the postpartum period often gets overlooked.
"Parents spend months being cared for during pregnancy. Then the baby arrives, and many suddenly feel like they're standing alone."
This is one of the reasons she now dedicates much of her work to breastfeeding and feeding consultations, often visiting families in their own homes.
"Sometimes families don't need medical interventions. They don't need blood tests or hospital admissions. They need someone who sees them. Someone who listens. Someone who can help them slow down and feel supported."
Her consultations focus not only on feeding techniques, but also on the emotional wellbeing of the family.
"Oxytocin is essential for feeding. It supports milk production, bonding and calm. Sometimes the most important thing I can do is help create an environment where parents can relax and reconnect with themselves and their baby."
Feeding Without Boxes
One of Josephine's core beliefs is that there is no single right way to feed a baby.
"I don't believe in putting families into boxes. Every baby is different. Every family has different needs, resources and circumstances."
That philosophy has led her to develop both breastfeeding and bottle-feeding education at Moderliv. Rather than positioning one feeding method against another, she encourages parents to understand their options and choose what works for their family.
"My role is not to tell families what they should do. It's to provide evidence-based information, nuanced guidance and support, so they can make informed decisions for themselves."
Why Caramma Caught Her Attention
As a feeding consultant, Josephine sees many different bottles and feeding products. What first stood out to her about Caramma was its unique approach to supporting combination feeding.
"What I find interesting about Caramma is that it mimics the breastfeeding experience in a way I haven't seen before."
She highlights the bottle's vacuum system and breast-inspired design, which encourage babies to use similar oral motor skills as they would during breastfeeding.
"The baby needs to work for the milk in a similar way they do at the breast. They maintain their vacuum, engage their jaw muscles and experience a feeding rhythm that feels familiar."
For Josephine, this matters because it can help support families who wish to combine breastfeeding and bottle feeding.
"What I appreciate is that the feeding experience feels human. The bottle allows parents to feed in nurturing, close positions, creating many of the same opportunities for bonding and connection."
Supporting the Entire Feeding Journey
Whether families choose breastfeeding, bottle feeding or a combination of both, Josephine believes the goal should always be the same: supporting the wellbeing of both baby and parents.
"The most important thing is that families feel confident, supported and seen. Feeding is not just about milk. It's about relationships, trust and learning to navigate parenthood together."
At Caramma, we couldn't agree more.
Because every feeding journey looks different and every family deserves the freedom and support to find their own way.
